That free dice (1d8) of damage rolls on a table to determine how many Hit-dice of damage a Godbound does. So 5e monsters are compatible since their HP doesn't matter. Godbound HP is basically Hit-dice but called something else. Webwhat do you do to set the scene in combat? The problem i have running Godobund is finding the best way to represent combat. The action is very dynamic, and it is hard to put it on the map without seeming to constrain it. So the question for the GMs out there is how do you guys run fights mechanically? Do you use maps or run it theater of the mind.

WebFeb 5, 2024 · Godbound has skills, attributes, foci, and words that all affect the world outside of combat. Both systems assume a certain amount of central combat in their base system. I'd say the only reason Godbound would result in more combat by default is that it's much faster/easier to resolve, so you can go there far more readily by default. WebCombat in Godbound can frequently come down to divine slugfests, so having additional combat options can make fights more engaging both for GMs and players. They don't necessarily need to be balanced: they just need to do mechanically interesting things.
